A week at the bench, not a week of worksheets.
Five days in a real teaching laboratory, with your own glassware and your own experiments to troubleshoot. You will set off a pH rocket, light an LED with a pickle, pull color out of spinach, and make ice cream with liquid nitrogen - and you will be able to explain the chemistry behind every one of them by Friday.
Cosmetic Chemistry
Five days of formulating: lip balm, perfume, lotion, body butter, lip gloss, blush, mascara and shampoo. Emulsion science and the HLB system, UV-Vis spectroscopy, and thin-layer chromatography.
Pre-Med
Entering grades 9-12. Vitals, airway basics and suturing on practice pads, building a differential from a chart, and case work drawn from emergency medicine.
Food Chemistry
Entering grades 9-12. Physical versus chemical change, pH measured three ways, fermentation and microscopy, spectroscopy and natural dyes, then hot ice, dry ice and liquid nitrogen.
